My Quest For The Perfect Photo

I am fairly new at taking photos and creating editing them to post on interent but I’m quickly learning it is one of the most important skills that needs to be developed to effectively sell on the internet.  There is alway the professional phtographer, but that’s a luxury I can’t afford.  I am usually doing good to find cash for jewelry supplies.  I came across an article in one of the Etsy forums called “Make Your Pictures Pop“.  The article talks about adding dynamic range to your photos.  Yeah, I had never heard of dynamic range until I stumbled across this article either.  Dynamic range is the range of tones, from lightest to darkest in a photo.  I tried the tips in the article and OMG! what a difference. Here is a piece I just listed on Artfire the over the weekend.  I took the photos outside on a sunny day and used a piece of stone as the background.  On the left is the original photo and on the right is the edited photo. I used the instructions shown in the article.  Photoshop was used to add dynamic range.  You be the judge.

I also found this article on photoshop editing.  I thought I would share.  I haven’t tried any of the tips, but I plan to.

I will continue my quest for the perfect photo.  Until next time.

Adopting a Pet – It’s a Life Commitment….

CHARLOTTE

TYSON

My husband and I are HUGE animal lovers and always rescue animals instead of buying from breeders, puppy mills, or heaven forbid a pet store!

We have two rescued boxers, that we just absolutely adore, but they do have their moments.  There have been times when you think maybe we just can’t give them what they need… NONSENSE! Charlotte has had her share of mishaps, so much so, that everyone at our vet’s office knows her by name.  We have always said she will never die of natural causes.    Tyson has his adventures too, he is just a little more calm about it.  He had a rough start on life.  He was shot before he found his way to the local boxer rescue.  Luckily, the vet was able to repair all the damage that was done and he is doing marvelous.

I received an email the other day that just really hit a sore spot with me.   Cheba Mealk Koh (Thai for white cloud) apparently had been surrendered by her original owner becasue the apartment where they live no longer allow pets.  She was at our local animal shelter for about a week when she was adopted.  On the same day that she was adopted, she was found wandering a busy intersection.  Efforts to contact the new owner have been in vain.  This kind of irresponsibility and disregard for another living animal just really ticks me off!

Cheba Mealk Koh

She is currently being fostered but desperately needs a new home.  Cheba is 1-2 years old, weighs about 80 lbs. and is extremely sweet and affectionate. She appears to be all or mostly Akita.  Knowing only the most basic of commands, she needs some discipline.  Cheba’s behavior with children is good.  How she behaves with cats is questionable-so far she chases cats that run but only looks at still ones.  Cheba lived with another dog in her original home but, her disposition with other dogs is untested.

If you know someone that might be interested in adopting Cheba, please leave a comment on my blog and I will put you in contact with her foster parent.

There are so many animals that need good homes, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE adopt a pet before you consider buying., but do your homework first and go into the arrangement knowing what you are getting into.  Making that agreement to adopt a pet should not be on an impulse or for a loved one’s birthday.  When you adopt a pet, do so knowing it is a life long committment to this animal.   They may be cute and adorable today and maybe even tomorrow, but there will come a day when they won’t be so cute, like when they drag your recliner across the living room (no joke, I had a dog that did that) or you come home and they have ate half a bottle of antiboitics (yeah that one happened too).  They need medical care, food, discipline, and last but not least love……

PLEASE ADOPT ONCE YOU HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE THAT LIFE COMMITTMENT!!
